No Heat? Try These Steps First

Mansfield

If you have no heat, there are some steps you can take yourself to check your system and possibly get it working properly. Of course, if you'd like to call us right away, please do so at any time and we'll give you all the help we can, including sending service technicians out to get everything working the way it should. Our number is 609-298-0617.

Here is what to do:

  1. Thermostat. Make sure it is in the "Heat" position. Set the thermostat temperature selector several degrees above the actual room temperature. If the system starts up, you've probably found – and solved – the problem.
  2. Emergency Switch. Make sure it is turned on. This switch should be mounted in a red plate and be located either on or near your heater or at the top of your basement steps. Make sure the switch is in the "ON" position.
  3. Fuses or Circuit Breakers. Check your fuse or circuit breaker box for any fuses that are blown or circuit breakers that have opened. If you find a blown fuse, replace it. Close any open circuit breakers related to your heating system.
  4. Oil Supply. Check the oil level in your tank. If you need a delivery, call us and we'll be there as quickly as possible.
  5. Reset Button. This is a little red button on the top of the primary control for the heating system. You may push it to reset your oil burner. Please only try this step ONCE.
  6. Call Mansfield. If none of the above steps gets your burner to start, call us at 609-298-0617 and follow the prompts. We'll have a service technician there as quickly as possible to get you back up and running.
